This thing is a powerhouse. Tuned up nice and is deep and throaty. I especially love the 3 point butt. Did not disappoint, but then again, it is a DW.
I am normally a TAMA snare connoisseur but I decided to try this DW COLLECTOR'S SNARE 8x14 GOLD GLASS WITH GOLD HARDWARE and I was not disappointed! This is a PHENOMENAL PERCUSSION INSTRUMENT! The craftsmanship is BEST IN CLASS! It looks like a beautiful piece of furniture! This is not a "timid" drum and you have to put on your "ADULT UNDERWEAR" if you're going to own this drum. I use drum in venues without miking. The sensitivity of the drum at all levels is very good. It sounds good at different tuning ranges. I am definitely glad I purchased this gorgeous snare drum!
I love the full-body sound of this snare at any tuning range. I put my signature head on it (Evans UV1) and it took the sound to another level. The features on this snare is 2nd to none! The display of this drum is of an elegant piece of furniture. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS SNARE IF YOU WANT TO TAKE YOUR SNARE ARTILLERY TO ANOTHER LEVEL!
