The hoops are gloss black. they came wrapped in plastic, which stuck to the finish and marred the finish. When I tightened the first lug, the paint cracked and chipped.

The Gibraltar bass drum hoops are 1 3/4" tall and have 8 thick all maple plies for superior construction. This Gibraltar bass drum hoop is expertly finished in high gloss black lacquer. Listing is for single bass drum hoop.
